What's the differnce?

DVR systems are standalone systems. Your limited how many cameras you can setup before you would have to buy another unit. Most come in configurations of 4, 8, 12, 16 or 24 Cameras. With an NVR system you can setup 3, 10 or 40 cameras without having to upgrade to a newer unit. System must be specced accordingly.
